What materials are commonly used in the manufacturing of flexible films and pouches?

Flexible films and pouches are manufactured using a variety of polymer materials selected for their strength, flexibility, barrier properties, and printability. Common materials include polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polyethylene terephthalate (PET), polyamide (PA), and aluminum foil laminates. Polyethylene is frequently used because of its flexibility, moisture resistance, and excellent sealing properties. Polypropylene provides good clarity, strength, and heat resistance. PET is valued for its durability, dimensional stability, and high-quality printing surface, while polyamide offers exceptional puncture resistance. In many applications, these materials are combined into multilayer laminate structures that provide superior protection against moisture, oxygen, light, and contaminants. Aluminum foil layers may also be incorporated when maximum barrier protection and extended shelf life are required. These material combinations allow manufacturers to customize packaging according to specific product requirements.
